Way to Dream
„I want to live a common life. Hell, I am really making efforts…“
Héřa Volf
Project
“Way to Dream” is a project of a handicapped unprofessional sportsman Heřmana Volfa and a company MILD production.
This project focuses on a motivation of other people, who are after an injury on a wheelchair and despite of it they can do sports activities.
One of Heřman’s favourite sports activity is a bike-riding on a specially modified bike – a handbike. The main plan is to carry out 4 tours to 4 directions, each year one tour.
Around us there are many people on a wheelchair who are very active – they do several kinds of sports – on their own or in sports clubs. But they are not “seen”. Our goal is to draw attention to those activities and to the life on a wheelchair and to show that “they are able to do it…”
This project is under the patronage of Centre Paraple and Foundation Konto Bariéry and Chamber of Commerce of the target country.
Heřman Volf
Heřman Volf – a former top sportsman (athletics – mainly javelin throw).
His life changed in January 2006…
After a horrible fall at skiing, he was bound on a wheelchair. Diagnosis: a break of a spinal chord.
Thanks to his family and friends he found strength to fight against his handicap and after nine months he returned to a common life. His strong desire and will do nearly miracles and thanks to a periodic physiotherapy and an individual home-training, he was able to return not only to a common life, but also to sports. He found a job and his life got a new dimension…
„And then I got a new bike and I told myself, that I could go for a longer ride….” Said Heřman in summer 2008 and the following year he set off the first long journey. Together with his father and his friend Miloslav Doležal he set off a journey long 1 400 Km.
Prague - Paris
Exactly one week after Arc de Triomphe at Paris square Charlese de Gaull had welcomed the finish of the hardest cycling race Tour de France, this monument witnessed another sport victory. On Saturday August 1st 2009 Czech handbiker Heřman Volf rode under its majestic arch.
From Prague to Paris he rode 1355 kilometres in 17 days.
Heřman’s goal was to ride by Arc de Triomphe as a symbol of his will and determination to fight against the bad luck, that he was bound on a wheelchair.

Czechoslovak journey
In 2010 Heřman`s way went from Prague to Bánská Bystica. The start took place on August 5th 2010 and the end was reached on August 12th. The tour was long 664 km and took 8 days.
During the tour he was accompanied by his father and a long-life friend Miloslav Doležal, who was the organizer of the whole event. The photographer called Jan Frank rode with them on a bike.
During a part of the tout the team was joined by friends, home-folks and sponsors…
This tour was unique because of the fact, that Heřman carried all his belongings on specially modified bike. Furthermore, the whole journey was done without a day-off.
This tour was assessed as more demanding than the tour “Prague-Paris”, mainly because of the hilly terrain. But also because of the fact, that Heřman was carrying his belongings by himself and he had no day off.
